Vito DiSalvo was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA and studied music at Duquesne University. He earned his Master of Music degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida in Music Theory and Composition.
DiSalvo’s musical savvy spans Classical, Opera, Jazz, Italian, and American Pop music and is recognized by top performers the world over. He has produced more than twenty albums for his record label, MHM Productions LLC and has also owned and operated Mifflin Hills Music Publishing LLC since 1977.
Vito DiSalvo spent thirty-two years as a music educator in the West Mifflin Area School District. After seven years as a teacher, DiSalvo served as the district’s Music Department Head for the next twenty-five years until his retirement from education in 2008.
As a professional DiSalvo’s accomplishments as a composer, arranger, conductor, and producer have earned him a national and international reputation in the world of music.
Vito DiSalvo’s original music has been licensed for motion picture and television. Most recently his music can be heard in Sony Films motion picture EAT PRAY LOVE, starring Julia Roberts as well as the HBO American television drama series “The Sopranos.” Additionally his music has been used on national and regional commercials, and promotional and documentary films. His “TANGO IN THE PARK” has been recognized as one of the best tangos in the world as can be viewed and heard on YouTube’s “Best Tango Music” video.
As a performer, Mr. DiSalvo has conducted the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and played piano with the Orchestre Symphonique De Longueuil [Montreal] in his current role as Music Director for Italian [Tuscan] born Soprano, Giorgia Fumanti, who ranks, along with Andrea Bocelli, as the most popular Italian singer in China.
Additionally, Vito DiSalvo has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and with such international artists as the late Luciano Pavarotti, the UK’s Natasha Marsh, Turkey’s Ferhat Göçer, and Venetian, Giada Valenti. DiSalvo served for five years as Music Director for international singer Patrizio Buanne and served for nearly ten years as Music Director/Producer for American born tenor, Matt Morgan and Australian born soprano, Rachelle Durkin. He is currently producing a young tenor from Puglia, Italy, Marco Fiorante.
As an accordionist and pianist, DiSalvo has performed professionally for more than forty-five years. He has played on movie scores including the “The Bread My Sweet”, with 1970’s teen heartthrob Scot Baio as well as several commercial recordings including jazz singer Nancy Wilson’s Grammy Award Winning Album “Turned to Blue” on the MCG Jazz Label. He also tours occasionally as pianist with American vocal group, The Lettermen.
When he is not touring, DiSalvo plays solo piano throughout the winter months at Naples Heritage Golf and Country Club and Quail West Country Club in Naples and Bonita Springs, Florida respectively.
